     The poet knows only poetry, He hated slavery, He advised bravery, His words' flow resembled river Cauvery, He left us in a hurry, Noble ideas, his head did carry, India's position gave him worry, He was in penury, He gained of course glory, But suffered deep misery, British regime was his adversary, He worked also for salary, Stressed that Gandhi was necessary, Great ideas, his musings did bury, Giving top-class memory, He felt not sorry, An elephant caused him injury, His story is now History.

நின்னைச் சரணடைந்தேன்-கண்ணம்மா 
     நின்னைச் சரணடைந்தேன்!
பொன்னை, உயர்வை, புகழை விரும்பிடும் 
     என்னைக்  கவலைகள் தின்னத் தகாதென்று (நின்னை)
மிடிமையு மச்சமும் மேவியென் நெஞ்சிற் 
     குடிமை புகுந்தன,கொன்றவை போக்கென்று (நின்னை)
தன்செய லெண் ணித் தவிப்பது தீர்ந்திங்கு 
     நின்செயல் செய்து நிறைவு பெறும்வண்ணம் (நின்னை)

துன்பமினியில்லை,சோர்வில்லை,தோற்பில்லை 
     அன்புநெறியில்  அற ங்கள் வளர்ந்திட(நின்னை) 
நல்லது தீயது நாமறியோ மன்னை 

  நல்லது நாட்டுக!தீமையை யோட்டுக!(நின்னை)

I surrender to thee kannamma
    I surrender to thee
I am not to be engulfed with wordly pleasure like
    gold,status and fame (I surrender to thee)
Kill cowardice and fear
    that enters my heart (I surrender thee)
stop the thought thal all that happens according yo fate
    all that happens and fulfilled are by your action(I surrender thee)

No more sorrows, no more tiredness,no more failure

     To attain all virtues by love (I surrender thee)

We know which is good or evil

To prevail goodness!Drive away the evil.
